A few of you have reported experiencing trouble with QP this past week. The issues seem to mostly be related to logging in and out, and suddenly being timed out of QP. These could be related to your browser settings or your MyQP timeout settings. Please let me know if you experience any issues with QP during your shifts so that I can gain an accurate picture of the issue before reporting to QP.
As a precaution, please do the following 2 things before your next AskAway shift:
1. Check your browser settings:
A. Firefox users:
1. In the Tools menu, choose Options.
2. Under the Content tab, remove the check in the box for “Block pop-up windows”.
3. Under the Content tab, Load images automatically, Enable Javascript and Enable Java should all be checked.
4. Under the Privacy tab, check “Accept cookies from sites”. “Accept third party cookies” does not have to be checked.
5. Under the Advanced tab, click on the Network tab and make sure that Offline Storage is set to 50 MB. (This is critical!)
6. Click OK to save changes.
B. Internet Explorer users:
1. Click on the Gear icon or go to Tools > Internet Options > Settings (under “Browsing history”).
2. Make sure that “Check for newer versions of cached pages… every time I visit the webpage”.
3. Ensure “Amount of disk space to use” is set to 50 MB. [This is critical! Higher settings will affect the speed at which you see and are able to pick up new patrons coming in.]
4. Click OK to return to the Internet Options dialog.
2. Change your MyQP timeout settings:
A. Login to your QP account.
B. Click on Settings in the top red navigation bar, near the left side.
C. Make sure that your Session Timeout Period (near the bottom) is set to 2 hours.
D. Click Save to save your changes.
E. Click on Home in the red navigation bar to return to the MyQP page.
Let me know if you have any questions about this, or experience any trouble with QP during your shifts.
